Darlin', The ride back from Manchester after leaving you at the airport that morning was kinda quiet. Tim and I were both lost in private thought. Thinking about you and Nate and wondering where it would all lead. It was a somber, kinda sad drive. Remember it was hot like hell too. We stopped to get an ice coffee and Tim suddenly got a call from the Sheriff's Department. Don't know if you knew but Tim is the Animal Control Office for Nottingham. There's no animal control officer in Northwood which is a town nearby Merry Hill, so sometimes if there's a problem they call on Nottingham. Seems there was a house on a back road up there where there was some kind of tenant trouble. People were evicted and when the Sheriff went to serve papers they were already gone but left a turtle in the house. People are so politically correct nowadays. He gave Tim a long spiel about the dangers of touching the turtle, disease and whether or not it was indigenous to the area.... bla, .... bla.... bla...... It was so darned hot but Tim and I finally found the house. It was so bad Kristie, we had to put kleenex over our noses just to walk inside. There was some black guy milling around talking on a cell phone in a language we didn't understand. Sheriff cars, other cars.... We found the turtle in a stinky, dirty aquarium. Tim and I are both germaphobes as you know, but we got him out and into a plastic bag and threw him in the back seat of my Volvo. Traffic was wicked on route 4 and so we were trying to get out fast. I couldn't find my germ killer stuff and Tim freaked out. He was trying to drive my car with his wrists cause he didn't want to touch the steering wheel. I was tearing my car apart in the middle of traffic looking for my germ stuff when the turtle broke lose from the bag. Tim was swearing his head off at me to find the germ stuff like I had committed the biggest crime in the world for misplacing it. Just when I pulled it out and started dumping it over his hands so he would put his hands on the steering wheel and drive right, the turtle started crawling up the side of the drivers door. Then Tim really freaked out. He made a sharp turn toward Harvey lake and pulled over. It was just a poor little box turtle for Pete's sake. All the stupid sheriff had to do was let him go (Isn't that what Andy Griffin would have done on the old tv show?) but no..... we had to do it the politically correct way....Anyway we set the turtle free, then used more germ stuff and went to Merry Hill to wash up and wipe off my car seat and door. The Sheriff called back and wanted to know if Tim had the turtle secured and Tim assured him all was under control. Said, he'd have him checked out officially and return him to an area he was "indigenous" to. Big fat smile here. It's Tim's new word when he mimics the Sheriff now. Indigenous pronounced very seriously. ; ] So you can rest assured Nottingham and Northwood are both safe and secure towns now without any dangerous little turtles running around. Northwood is happy Tim saved them and Nottingham is happy they get to bill the town of Northwood for sending Tim!

Kinda took the somber edge off the day too. ; ]

Much love,
