Alzheimer’s Disease Visits Again

Losing my mom to Alzheimer’s happened in 2007.  It was a 5 year road of gradual decline, leading to the end.  Now, it’s my aunt’s turn I guess.  To the family, the signs have been unmistakable for some time, but accepting it and actually bringing it up to her was just too hard.   My aunt,  is an independent, never married, 85 year old lady of the south who insists “there is nothing wrong with me, my memory is fine!”  But the truth is, there is something very wrong.  It was very difficult to reason with her why she needed to go to the doctor.  ” I’m not sick, I’m fine, and I’m not going.”  Nevertheless, the appointment was made and we convinced her to go. Hot Tub Safety

Sometimes We Forget About Safety Around Hot Tubs

Hot tubs and spas are a popular retreat for many and why not?  There is nothing in the world like the sensations one receives while enjoying a hot tub:  Soothing heat, hydrotherapy massage, that “melting away” sensation that allows one’s mind to relax no matter what kind of a day you’ve had.

For many, a hot tub can be a respite from the pain of arthritis or sports injuries.  For others a social centerpiece for their home, and for still others, a private escape and maybe all of the above.

It’s sometimes hard to even think about the safety aspects of your hot tub because so many good feelings are enjoyed there.  But sometimes it’s the good feelings that might let us forget about certain safety issues.   If you own a hot tub now or are considering buying a hot tub, this list of hot tub safety items can help us all be aware and reminded that safety is important around hot tubs. Can Vitamin D Help Your Disease?

I’ve recently become very interested in Vitamin D and its importance in our health. Past and recent studies are unanimous in its benefits, and study results are not vague, but dramatic. Its pretty amazing that physicians are not shouting from the rooftops the message to “take more Vitamin D” but then again, perhaps its not. This morning i came across a video I thought i should share with you. Its about 30 minutes long but well worth watching specially if disease threatens your life or the life of a loved one. Important to note is the type of Vitamin D to take for the best benefit to you D Serum levels. Please feel free to leave comments.

Your Brain and Binaural Beats? The Lazy Way to Nirvana?

What the heck is a Binaural Beat you ask?

Binaural Beat technology is the use of different sound frequencies to product different effects to the human consciousness.  Basically, the human brain goes through many frequency cycles during each day. Different frequencies produce different effects to the human consciousness. Using this information, it has been discovered that the receiving and operating frequency of the brain can actually be altered with sound waves. The most powerful brain frequencies are under 20 Hz. Since the ear does not respond to frequencies below 20 Hz, Binaural Beat Technology came about which uses the inner wiring of the brain to produce the frequency with perfect accuracy.

How is this done?

By Broadcasting two separate frequencies in each ear. For example, if you wanted to tune your brain to a 7 Hz frequency, you could play 200 Hz in your right ear, and 207 Hz in your left ear. The brain will compensate for the difference between the two and produce a third tone that will be exactly 7 Hz. This will result in your brain frequency being lowered and tuned to the desired 7 Hz operating stage.

All of this is designed to tune your brain to various brain wave states. Continue reading

Mexico for Dental Tourism?

Waking this morning with a toothache was cause for me to once again, research “dental tourism.” The price for dental care in the US is staggering as anyone in my situation knows. dentist My situation consists of the need for a couple of crowns, a couple of root canals, a couple of fillings, and maybe an implant. This amounts to the staggering fee of 20 grand at my neighborhood dentist. I know dental tourism in Mexico is kinda of a scary proposition but reducing that 20 grand to the much more palatable 8 grand is a powerful motivator. I’ve heard the horror stories and the success stories and i’m thinking about trying it! Continue reading
